The Bill (Reg. No.2783) introduces amendments to 40 legislative acts of Ukraine in order to coordinate their regulations with the Constitution of Ukraine, the Laws "On the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine", and "On the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine".
The Bill establishes an effective legal mechanism of activity of the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine that performs law enforcement functions in the field of execution of criminal penalties.
Moreover, pursuant to the Bill, legislative acts of previous years concerning compulsory medical treatment and labour reeducation of chronic alcoholics and operation of treatment-and-labour preventoriums are declared invalid. Therefore, Committee members recommend that Article 96 of Chapter XIV of the Criminal Code of Ukraine concerning compulsory treatment of alcoholics be revised in accordance with the requirements of international Law.
